In the introductory presentation Mysteries, Masons, and the Kabbalah, Dr. Michael Hattwick will tell the story
of Mystery Schools,
ancient and modern. Beginning with clarification
of what the Lesser and Greater Mysteries are, Dr.
Hattwick will show how inevitable human concerns
lead to ways of learning about these Mysteries and
therefore to Mystery Schools. Next, attendees will
be reminded that a Complete Mystery School must
deal with four distinct, but inter-related Realities.
These Realities will be reviewed as taught in the
Western Tradition.
Dr. Hattwick will then reveal how these Mysteries
have been preserved and presented in the Bible,
Kabbalah, and Masonry.
The School of the Soul course will begin with the history, principles
and practices of Kabbalah. The grand design of
the tradition will then be laid out with ancient
and modern views of psychology, astrology and
working methods that give access to the higher and
invisible worlds. The first day will continue with the
kabbalistic view of the universe and its purpose,
followed by a study of a human being who mirrors
the macrocosm. Concluding will be an interior
exercise of the House of the Psyche, which reveals
the state of one's soul.
The second day starts with an examination of the
four journeys from the Divine down to the Earth,
then the ascent through evolution, followed by the
third of voluntary reincarnation to aid others to
develop, with the final return to the Divine. Fate
and destiny will be discussed before we ascend, in
an interior exercise, to the Celestial City.
About the Speakers
Michael A.W. Hattwick is a
practicing physician in Fairfax,
Virginia. He was educated at
Harvard, Baylor, Georgetown,
and the University of London. He
is board certified in both Internal
Medicine and Preventive Medicine.
Dr. Hattwick has been a student
of Warren Kenton's and teacher
of Kabbalah within the Toledano
Tradition for more than 15 years. This tradition dates
back to medieval Spain where the three branches of the
Abrahamic revelation met and brought together an esoteric
fusion of religion and philosophy. Dr. Hattwick is Master
of the Lodge of the Nine Muses and is the Grand Physician
for the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia for 2008.
Z'ev ben Shimon Halevi is the
Hebrew name of Warren Kenton, who
was born into a Sefardi Jewish family.
He has studied and practiced the
esoteric way, especially Kabbalah, for
over 40 years. During this time he has
visited nearly all the old major centers
of Kabbalah in Europe, North Africa
and Israel. From this outer and inner
journey have come 14 books, including
a novel on a Kabbalistic topic. These have been translated
into 13 languages. He has taught groups on every continent
and is the principal tutor for the International Kabbalah
Society. He is a Fellow of the Temenos Academy.
